Conversion tracking means that your tracking platform (either your own or a 3rd party) will send every conversion you receive back to us, so you'll be able to view the number of conversions in your Start.io (formerly StartApp) portal.
Please follow the steps below:
Implement our global postback URL
A postback is a URL that sends conversions generated from your campaigns back to our platform.
Our postback URL looks like this:
http://www.startappinstalls.com/trackinstall/selfservice?d={partner_click_id_macro}
{partner_click_id_macro} represents the placeholder you use on your tracking URLs to receive our click ID. This placeholder should be permanent and identical on each campaign's tracking URL.
Example:
If you use a placeholder called aff_sub to get our click ID, your postback should look like this:
http://www.startappinstalls.com/trackinstall/selfservice?d={aff_sub}
This postback is global and should send us the data for all the campaigns you upload to the platform.
Implement our click ID in your tracking URLs
In order for us to receive your conversions, you need to add our click ID macro to each tracking link you use. The macro for click ID is: startapp_click_id_placeholder
Make sure to add this macro into the same placeholder used on the global postback you implemented.

Each URL will need to include &aff_sub=startapp_click_id_placeholder
For your information:
Start.io (formerly StartApp) is already integrated with Appsflyer, Voluum, Adjust, Kochava, Firebase, Branch, Singular, and others.
This means that if you work with one of these companies as your tracking provider, you can simply choose "StartApp" as a traffic source on their platform, and our click_ID_placeholder will be automatically implemented into the URLs you generate on our platform.
Conversion tracking menu
Open the conversion tracking tool by clicking on the left side menu:
Add a test tracking link
Press on the 'Add your first conversion tracking validation' button:
Complete the tracking test details
Conversion test name
Name the test. Note that the name should be unique.
Tracking URL
Add the tracking link you would like to validate. Don't forget it should include a placeholder for click ID and our startapp_click_id_placeholder macro.
Validation link
A test link will be sent in order to verify your tracking link. You may choose to receive the test link and results via email or SMS.
Save and validate
Once you save and validate, a link will be sent to your email or mobile phone (as per the details you submitted in the previous section).
Test your tracking link
Click the link that was sent to you by email or SMS. Make sure to do this from a mobile device.
* Perform a valid conversion on your landing page.
* If your conversion event is an app install, the device you are using must not already have this app installed. After installing, make sure to open the app.
* The conversion tracking result will be sent to you via email or SMS. You can also check the status on the conversion tracking test list.
Tracking test status
The status of the test will initially be Pending Tracking Validation.
* Please allow 15-30 minutes for the tracking validation to be completed and for the conversion to be updated.
If the test is successful, the status will be updated to Validated.
If the test was not completed or was not successful, the status will appear as Failed.
Edit a tracking test
You can edit an existing test by hovering with the mouse on the right side menu:
Press on the edit button to edit the tracking URL, or to resend a test link. Once completed, press on the save and validate button.
You can also delete a test from your list by hovering with the mouse on the right side menu and pressing the button.
